General updates on life

and pictures that you may or may not want to skip

So I finally went to go see the doctor yesterday. For the past month my lower back (and then later, around my hips) had been in a lot of pain and I really wasn’t sure why. And my back’s gotten worse. That’s…no surprise actually.

I’ve had back and shoulder problems for probably around 5 years now due to swimming, water polo, and all around bad posture. But it’s usually been concentrated in my upper back and shoulders, never in my lower back.

Well, I finally found out what has been cause me so much pain and it turns out it’s my sciatic nerve. What the sciatic nerve is, is this. So basically, I have sciatica. Luckily it’s not so bad that I even need to get x-rayed yet but…well, we’ll see in a couple of months. For now, I’m taking aleve, stretching, and I’m supposed to use a heating pad and get massages. If it gets worse then I’ll have to do physical therapy.

Also, it’s been a little over two full months since I started my skin regimen. I know that I shouldn’t expect everything to suddenly be perfect but I am seeing it clear up. I break out a lot less now and when I do it’s not as severe as before. I have the option next month to switch to a different routine: instead of taking a pill until basically I’m too old to get acne I would take something for 6 months and then be done with it forever (unless it came back in which case I would do the 6 month thing again).

I don’t really know what I want to do yet. My skin’s not at the point I want it to be at yet but it’s definitely improving and I don’t really want to mess with something that’s working. I have another month to decide so I guess we’ll see what my skin decides to do in that time…

PICTURES OF AN INJURY THAT MAY DISGUST YOU!!!!

—-

I guess the last thing is that I realized a little while ago that it’s been a year since the mishap I had in the kitchen last year (wherein I cut my finger open to the tendon with a knife - let me tell you, that got exciting). It hasn’t bothered me in a long time but sometimes when I gets really cold it starts to hurt. It’s completely healed over but I think it will be scarred forever (which is fine with me, I don’t really care).

So here’s the before and after:
